Renowned educationist and healthcare provider, Dr. A. C. Shanmugam, was conferred with an honorary doctorate by Mysore University in recognition of his exceptional contributions to education and medical services. The prestigious award was presented during the 105th Graduation ceremony at the university on 18th January, 2025.
A proud law graduate of Bangalore University, Dr. Shanmugam chose the state of Karnataka and its people, making it his "Karma Bhoomi." His journey of service began in 1992 with the establishment of the Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital, followed by the founding of Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital. His vision was to bring affordable medical services to the poor and underserved communities.
Dr. A. C. Shanmugam, Founder Chancellor of Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research University and Chairman of Rajarajeswari Group of Institutions, has been conferred with an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK, a rare distinction meant only for distinguished medical professionals and scientists. Our Hon’ble Founder Chancellor and Chairman of RajrajeswariGroup of Institutions, Dr. A.C. Shanmugam and Hon’ble Managing Trustee, Smt. S. Lalitha Lakshmi, were invited by the Governor of Kursk State, Russia, as a chief guest for 88th Annual Day ceremony of Kursk State Medical University and to deliver a special address in the State Assembly. During this visit, Dr. Shanmugam was also awarded with Honorary Fellowship in recognition of his immeasurable contribution to medical education and free medical services to those in need.
